Accomodation in Javea - Welcome to Javea

Villas, More Villas, A Few Hotels, B&Bs and Campsites and, Oh Yes, Lets Not Forget, More Villas!

We say this 'tongue in cheek', but its not far from reality. Most expatriates come to Javea for their private villa holidays. Nothing wrong with that! So did we to start. Villas are really what makes Javea different than many other holiday distinations. Unlike other towns on the Costa Blanca, there are few hotels and high rises, making Javea a destination for those seeking privacy and quietude with the option of eating out most nights.

There are a host of villa rental companies serving the British, German, Scandinavian and French tourists respectively. There are also many Madrilenos who come from the capital for their holidays, many even own properties here. Most private villa owners are expatriates who spend a mix of their time in Javea and back in their country of origin. This means many villas are let out privately and not through agencies. This is good for Javea and the tourists, but many are not registered with the tourist authorities like the rest of Spain, and for this reason there are few guarantees. In Javea we are fortunate that the vast majority of villas are kept in good condition and are well maintained. However, it is still wise to research the villa and owner / rental company. Its very difficult to change things once you arrive and are disattisfied with what you have rented. To see a list of companies that manage villas on behalf of owners that let to English visitors.

Hotels, Hostels, Bed and Breakfasts (Pensions) and Camping

Javea doesn't have that many hotels for what is a fairly popular tourist resort, but then Javea isn't that large as a town. Nevertheless there is a good mix and you can find out more by clicking on the above sub-heading, where you can also find detials on a couple of camp sites and smaller accomodation providers.

Apartments and Town Houses

It is also possible to rent apartments and town houses. These are a lot cheaper in the main, however, you should consider your needs if one of your party finds stairs difficult. Apartment blocks here do not always have elevators and this is mainly because very few are more than two stories high. Secondly, town houses won't usually come with a pool, but with the sea so close and welcoming that may not matter at all. The great thing about apartments and town houses in Spain and especially in Javea, is that they are often larger inside than many villas. Town houses in the Pueblo and Old Town can also be very quiet and cool, whereas, apartments in the Arenal and Port can experience a little noise at night during the fiestas and peak season.

by a significant community of expatriates who love the tranquil lifestyle and healthy cliamte.

Location and Transport

One key factor when considering where to stay in Javea is location. Nothing is very far away if you have a car. If you are stuck out at Balcon del Mar, Pinosol or Montgo and don't have a car to use, things could be very difficult, as the only alternative is a taxi. There are few buses that will be in reach of the many hidden away little roads where many of the private rental villas are located. On the other hand, if you are staying within the Port, Arenal or Old Town, then it is possible to go through a full fortnight and never need to hire a car. Finding your villa in the first place can also be tricky if you are not familiar with the area, but the vast majority of villa agencies and owners provide excellent help to get you there, with many prepared to meet you off the motorway, or at a point easily found on the way.
