Airports

Frequent Services to Within an Hour of Javea.

There are two airports which are used predominantly by those visiting Javea. Alicante is the principal airport of choice, but increasingly, Valencia is becoming more popular now that certain low cost airlines are flying there. Increasingly, Murcia is also being chosen due to the low cost of some flights from the UK. Murcia may be another hour and a half drive, but given the extra cost of using the other two airports, many do not find this inconvenient.

Alicante

There are excellent services between Alicante and the UK, with many regional airports offering local access to your part of Britain. The airport is a good size being neither too big, nor too small to offer necessary services. The airport itself is very close to the main motorway between Alicante and Valencia, providing quick and easy access to Javea. The airport has a small range of shops and food services once you get beyond passport control. During the peak months of July and August, the airport can get a little busy and queues can form at fast food stalls, but apart from that there are few complaints from most visitors. Check times vary by airline, but you should allow a good couple of hours before departure for check in with tour operator flights. National airlines running scheduled services do not tend to have as many problems due to the number of check in desks they use. Low cost airlines sometimes only have one or two desks although as many of these do not assign seat numbers, the queues diminish reasonably quickly unless the computers go down. The airport has good parking and car rental facilities, and for those looking to buy property in the region, there is a long term car park as you approach the airport from the motorway, where you can buy an annual parking ticket and leave your car securely as much as you want.

The main contact telephone numbers for the airport are:

Business and Administration: 966 919 000.

Information Lines: 966 919 000 and 966 919 400.

Valencia

Valencia is a big city, so the problem you may have is getting out of the airport quickly during peak commuting periods. Apart from that the airport has a lot to offer. Flights to Valencia are on the whole more expensive than to Alicante, due to most of the airlines there being National Carriers. However, some regional airports such as Coventry, now have flights direct to Valencia that are very well priced.

Murcia

This is a small regional airport that is becoming increasingly popular due to the low cost flights available and the simplicity of getting in and out. Facilities are limited, but the functionality is not compromised.
