There are many restaurants to choose from in the port area and in the end it is down to individual preferences. For our part we always think in terms of pleasing our whole family, which is not easy when we have a small child, a teenager, a seafood loving adult, a vegetarian adult, a fish only grandparent and a carnivore grandparent that should have been born during the days when mammoth steaks were still on the menu! So! Here are the votes from the complicated family Jury! Below prices correct as at August 2004.
Miramar
We love the Miramar! The restaurant manager is from Argentina and the waiting and kitchen staff are all part of his family, albeit of different nationalities! The choice of food is perfect for a complicated family like ours. They will even serve a few dishes that are not on the menu if required! The menu is varied and has plenty of choice. If you are looking for a quick tasty lunch, go for the swiss cheese toasted sandwiches, they are really yummy! The escalope and chicken is woofed down by the children and the baked brie loved by everyone apart from dieters! But what is really nice about the Miramar is that it is good value for money and the service is excellent. Just bear in mind that if the restaurant says it opens at 7.30 pm, they mean 8.00pm! Well, this is Spain! House red bottle of wine, tuna salad, Canneloni , chicken breast au gratin (huge and worth every cent). large beer
Negros
Everybody
in the family gets to eat something they love. The restaurant faces the
sea just by the end of the main road coming into Javea Port from the
Arenal. Alternatively, as your walk out of the promenade area of the
port the restaurant can be found across the road and a few metres
passed the river Gorgos crossing. The pizzas and pastas are excellent,
as are the seafood entrees, meat main courses and spinach bakes.
Service is excellent and we suggest eating outside but away from the
main road, as during the peak season it can get a little busy at the
front of the restaurant. The head waiter really manages the restaurant
and services well, even though he can appear a little serious and stern
in his approach. Don't worry! Food is excellent! Chicken salad,
mozarrella and tomotao salad , garlic chicken , small beer
, deep fried baby squid (big portion), bottle of house red
wine , baked spinach, four cheese pizza
Posito
Right at the front of the port promenade and to the left of the Hotel Miramar (the blue canopy in the picture above). This is whwere to come for paella or seafood. I tend to go for the vegetarian paella with the kids, whilst the granparents and wife indulge in the seafood. Service is great, setting wonderful and prices very middle of the road. Vegetarian paella for two small beer, bottle of red house wine, chicken fillet , king prawns in garlic . If you enjoy desserts you should try the house desert. Its huge with ice cream, creme caramel, cream, fruit and a garnish of liquour.
Napoli
Lets face it, the kids love pizza and so do we! Pizzas here are varied, fresh, not too deep, nor too thin and very tasty! Prices good and the restaurant also offers pastas and entrees that will suit non-pizza lovers. Not a huge choice of anything else, bu hey, this is a pizza restaurant. Pizzas and pastas from. My favourite is the Regina with egg, cheese and asparagus. Napoli is about half way along the port promenade.
