Javea's
Old Town is an array of narrow streets leading to and from the old
indoor market. A few small cafes, shops and restaurants are sparsely
intermingled on the main road by the Central Post Office. Behind the
post office lies a large square that acts as a parking area apart from
on Thursdays when it hosts the main market. The Old Town is a must if
you are visiting Javea and the bars and restaurants are much cheap than
in the busier Arenal and Port.
Javea at Its Best
The Old Town is really at the heart of the local community. Here,
amidst the bodegas and cafes the locals enjoy a peacefully serene
lifestyle away from the pressures of life found elsewhere in Spain. At
lunchtime, even the traffic wardens here take a couple of hours off, as
there is no charge for parking during the two hours Javea sets aside
for lunch and a nap!
