Spain is Shoe Shopping Heaven!
The first time I took my wife (who loves shoes more than life itself!) to Spain, she bought four pairs of shoes within the first hour! However, I didn't mind because she could not have picked up one pair of shoes of the same quality in the UK for the equivalent of what she spent on four pairs.
Javea may be small, but you have to remember that this is the land of the 'Zapato' and no town in Spain could survive without a good selection of shoe shops. There are four shoe shops in the Arenal area, another four in the Port Area and two shops of note in the Old Town.
About two hours drive South from Javea is the hub of the Spanish shoe industry at Elche and this means that traders in Javea have easy access to local suppliers. You will also find that increasingly, Spanish shoe shops have good offerings of overseas chic brands. These are more expensive, but it all adds to the choice.
A Little Tip For the Men!
You can't get away from shoe shops in Spain, so don't try! But you can limit the damage. The big cities such as Barcelona and Madrid are becoming increasingly expensive for shoes. Whereas other parts of Spain are relatively much cheaper. If your wife wants to go shoe shopping for a few days send them to Seville. It has more shoe shops per square foot than any other place in Spain. By taking your holidays in Javea, you therefore minimise the damage as all three of these cities is a long drive away!
