Local and Airport Taxis
Within Javea there are taxi ranks where the authorised taxis can be found. All journeys are metered unless negotiated in advance (e.g. fixed price fares to airport). Although the local companies have a good reputation, it is always wise in Spain to make sure that you either know the price of the fare before you get into the taxi, or alternatiively make sure that the meter is on.
Be Cautious At the Airport
Just as in the UK there are taxi touts at the airports who will try and offer you a taxi service before you get to the official ranks. Make sure you avoid these touts. Most are un-licensed, may not take good care of their vehicles and you can't be guaranteed that you will not be seriously over charged for the journey. Just as in the UK the taxi companies and authorised drivers won't tolerate un-licensed cars picking people up at the official airport taxi ranks, so you will see them all lined up, all the same colour and with badges of identification fully on display, both on the car and for the driver.
