Local Transport Services - Welcome to Javea

Buses and Trains are Available, But a Car is Still Preferable

Javea is positioned off the beaten track on the coast of Eastern Spain, with Valencia an hour and a half north, and Alicante a little nearer to the South. As the main railway between Valencia and Alicante does little meandering and travels pretty much in a straight line etween the two, leaving Javea a good tweny minutes by car from the nearest train station at Gata de Gorgos.

If then, you intend to use public transport to get from one of these main towns to Javea then there is little alternative than the bus service if you are looking to keep costs to a minimum.

Taxis do run from the airports and Valencia, but it will set you back in excess of € 100 one way.

For these reasons, most visitors to Javea hire a car when they arrive in Spain.

The main roads to and from the big towns are mostly in a good state of repair. You can either use the coastal roads that meander in and out of the coastal towns, or use the motorways. You have to pay tolls on the motorways, but they are so very much faster it is usually worth the extra cost.
